Formula
Percentage of base = base value × percentage ÷ 100. Value after increase = base × (1 + percentage ÷ 100). Value after decrease = base × (1 − percentage ÷ 100). Na these formulas we dey use.
Example wey show the calculation
15% of 280 = 280 × 15 ÷ 100 = 42. After 15% increase: 280 + 42 = 322. After 15% decrease: 280 − 42 = 238. Use Reset example above to get this result again, then replace the figures with your own.
Where e fit work and limits
Percentage fit be negative or pass 100. Decrease wey pass 100% go give negative result. That one correct for maths, but e fit no make sense for the quantity wey you dey describe. Display dey round to 2 decimal places. This page only dey calculate percentages; tax, fees or compounding no dey inside unless you include dem in the percentage wey you enter.
Questions wey people dey ask often
How we take calculate percentage of a value?
Multiply the base by the percentage, then divide by 100. For example, 15% of 280 na 280 × 15 ÷ 100 = 42.
Wetin 'after increase' mean?
Na base plus percentage amount. If 280 increase by 15%, na 280 + 42 = 322.
The percentage fit pass 100?
Yes. 150% of 280 na 420, and increase of 150% go give 700. The maths remain the same; check whether e make sense for your own situation.
Wetin if the percentage negative?
Negative percentage dey reverse direction: −15% of 280 na −42, so increase of −15% actually na decrease to 238.
Why we dey round the results?
Display dey round to 2 decimal places. We no round the multiplication before calculating the increase and decrease figures.
