Scenario comparison
Up to three snapshots in this tab. Loading one replaces the current inputs.
Formula
Let n = ceil(L/s), where L is fence length and s is maximum post spacing in the same unit. Open-run post count is n+1; a closed loop uses n posts. ceil rounds up.
Count posts for a straight run or a closed loop.
Worked example
- Fence length (m)
- 30
- Maximum post spacing (m)
- 2.5
- Fence shape
- Open straight run
- Posts needed
- 13
- Equal spacing
- 2.5 m
Scope and limitations
No gates, corners, intermediate bracing or terrain changes are included.
Inputs are checked for missing values and allowed ranges. A result outside the finite numeric range is not displayed. Rounding affects display, while the calculation uses the model’s numeric precision.
Check your units and assumptions before relying on a result. Changing a label does not convert a currency or physical unit.
