The bars dey use the 600 km trip as their scale. Fuel for trip = rate (L/100km) × trip distance ÷ 100.
Formula
L/100 km = litres ÷ kilometres × 100. To get US MPG, change kilometres and litres to miles and US gallons: MPG (US) = (km ÷ 1.609344) ÷ (L ÷ 3.785411784). For UK MPG, use 4.54609 L for each gallon instead. Km/L = kilometres ÷ litres.

Example wey show the calculation
600 km with 45 L: 45 ÷ 600 × 100 = 7.5 L/100km; 600 ÷ 45 = 13.333333 km/L. Miles = 600 ÷ 1.609344 = 372.822715; US gallons = 45 ÷ 3.785411784 = 11.887742, so US MPG = 372.822715 ÷ 11.887742 = 31.361944. UK gallons = 45 ÷ 4.54609 = 9.898616, so UK MPG = 372.822715 ÷ 9.898616 = 37.664125.

Which L/100km figure we fit call good?
As rough guide: below 6 dey economical, 6–9 na middle range for family petrol car, and above 9 dey use plenty fuel. You no fit compare diesels, hybrids and electric cars directly with this same scale.
Why UK MPG dey higher than US MPG?
Na the same car, but the gallon bigger: imperial gallon (4.54609 L) hold about 20% more fuel than US gallon (3.785411784 L). So the same distance per litre go show a higher UK MPG.
How I fit change L/100km to MPG?
US MPG = 235.214583 ÷ L/100km. For 7.5 L/100km, e go give 31.361944, the same as the worked example.
I suppose measure one tank or several tanks?
Use several tanks. How full the pump fill one tank fit change the figure. Take the average of at least three fill-ups wey you fit compare.
