Sequential Latency Budget
Add sequential stages and compare them with a target.
Your numbers
Total serial latency
For sequential work only. Concurrent branches require a dependency graph; percentile latencies cannot generally be added as if they were means.
Scenario comparison
Up to three snapshots in this tab. Loading one replaces the current inputs.
Formula
Use T = Σtᵢ and R = B−T. Each tᵢ is a sequential stage duration, B is the target, T is total latency, and R is the remaining budget.
Add sequential stages and compare them with a target.
Worked example
- Sequential stage times (ms)
- 20, 50, 30
- Target end-to-end latency (ms)
- 200
- Total serial latency
- 100 ms
- Remaining budget
- 100 ms
- Largest stage
- 50 ms
Scope and limitations
For sequential work only. Concurrent branches require a dependency graph; percentile latencies cannot generally be added as if they were means.
Inputs are checked for missing values and allowed ranges. A result outside the finite numeric range is not displayed. Rounding affects display, while the calculation uses the model’s numeric precision.
Check your units and assumptions before relying on a result. Changing a label does not convert a currency or physical unit.
