Carpet Roll Length
Compare two rectangular orientations using fixed-width carpet.
Your numbers
Lower roll-length requirement
Rectangular room, joined parallel strips and no pattern matching. Confirm seam placement and pile direction with the installer.
Scenario comparison

Formula
Compare L₁ = ceil(W/R)(L+t) and L₂ = ceil(L/R)(W+t), then choose the smaller requirement. L and W are room length and width, R is carpet roll width, and t is extra trim on each strip, all in m. ceil rounds the strip count up.

Scope and limitations
Rectangular room, joined parallel strips and no pattern matching. Confirm seam placement and pile direction with the installer.
Inputs are checked for missing values and allowed ranges. A result outside the finite numeric range is not displayed. Rounding affects display, while the calculation uses the model’s numeric precision.
Check your units and assumptions before relying on a result. Changing a label does not convert a currency or physical unit.
