Wall Stud Layout
Estimate equally spaced stud positions including both wall ends.
Your numbers
Basic stud positions
Layout count only. Doors, corners, double studs, loads, bracing and code compliance require a construction plan.
Scenario comparison
Up to three snapshots in this tab. Loading one replaces the current inputs.
Formula
Use N = ceil(L/s)+1. L is wall length and s is maximum centre spacing, converted to the same unit. ceil rounds up the number of intervals; the extra position includes both ends.
Estimate equally spaced stud positions including both wall ends.
Worked example
- Wall length (m)
- 4.8
- Maximum centre spacing (mm)
- 600
- Basic stud positions
- 9
- Equalized spacing
- 600 mm
Scope and limitations
Layout count only. Doors, corners, double studs, loads, bracing and code compliance require a construction plan.
Inputs are checked for missing values and allowed ranges. A result outside the finite numeric range is not displayed. Rounding affects display, while the calculation uses the model’s numeric precision.
Check your units and assumptions before relying on a result. Changing a label does not convert a currency or physical unit.
